What Do I Need To Get A Title Loan?

Accessing a title loan in Utah could put thousands in your bank account to help with unexpected or overdue bills. The process to access this cash is simple, and thousands of people apply through Utah Title Loans, Inc. every year.

We’re breaking down the five things you need to get your Utah title loans, as well as answering some FAQs that come along with each step. Let’s get to it.

Title Loan Requirements and FAQs

1. Government I.D.

You’ll need your government I.D. to display your name and age when you apply. In Utah, you must be over 18 to qualify for a title loan. Your I.D. cannot be expired and must include a photo. Acceptable forms include:

  • State license or non-driving I.D.
  • Passport or passport card
  • Military I.D.
  • Student I.D.

I Haven’t Updated My I.D. Is It Still Acceptable?

Your I.D. must be valid at the time of your application. If you have had a legal name change due to divorce, marriage, or another reason, this should also be updated on your I.D.

If you’ve recently moved to a new address in the same state, we recommend updating your I.D. as well, but if you don’t you may still be able to complete the title loan application. Speak with one of our reps to make sure your I.D. checks out.

2. A Car Title Without Liens

Title loans at our company use your lien-free title as collateral for up to $15,000. A lien-free title shows that you own your car and that no other person or company has a legal right to possess your title or vehicle. This is a crucial part of qualifying for a title loan.

How Can I Check If My Title Has Liens?

If your car was titled in Utah, you should be able to check for any liens on the paper title itself. You may have a lien if you still owe payments on the vehicle or if you used the car as collateral for a different loan that hasn’t been paid off.

If you don’t have your paper title handy, request a duplicate title through your Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). If your car was purchased out of state, you should also make an appointment at your DMV and inquire in person if the title has any holds. Be sure to bring your I.D. for this appointment.

What If The Title Isn’t In My Name?

The car title must be in your name to qualify for a title loan in Utah. You must go through the title transfer process at the DMV to change a title’s name to yours to qualify.

3. Your Car Ready To Go

Once you begin your loan request, you should have your car ready for inspection. The inspection lasts only a few minutes and can be done at your home, one of our locations, or another spot of your choice. This inspection will influence how much money you may qualify for.

What Does The Car Inspection Consist Of?

Our loan rep will give your car a look over, checking its mileage, year, and overall condition. The lower the mileage, the newer your car, and/or the better its condition, the more you may qualify for.

4. Internet Access

Our title loan process starts with a simple online form you submit in just a few minutes. After this, we’ll get in touch with you via phone and walk you through the rest of the process.
